After the success of the F.U.Z.E entry in the Psycho RG8 series in 2010, O’Neill’s Area 52 team developed the same entry for the insane SuperFreak. Now even warmer than it’s predecessor the SuperFreak is updated with FluidFlex™ Firewall in the Front Chest and Back. The 2012 SuperFreak keeps the water out and keeps you warm like no other wetsuit ever offered at this price level. One more freak of nature from your friends at O’Neill.

The Superfreak 4/3 is a great suit at an amazing price point. I was actually a bit skeptical seeing an O’Neill listed for this, but so far it has done extremely well. This morning I put the suit through its paces in cold weather…water temp 50, air temp 30, with an offshore breeze of about 10mph. I did wear a hood, boots and gloves, but the suit itself kept me quite warm for the 90 minutes in the water.

A great suit at a great price. Not many chest entry wetsuits at this price point. 161.00 total cost. Have taken it out twice now in 56 degree waters of the bay area. Very flexible yet kept me warm. I noticed they reinforced the neck line where previous superfreak this was a weak point that would tear over time. Can’t go wrong with this one.

GREAT suit so far.

Very comfortable and very flexible. Been out in this just twice so far– both times just over 60 degrees F– it was HOT. I had to let water in every so often to stay comfortable. Can’t wait ’til it gets cooler here in socal.

Great suit if you’re new to surfing and want to …

Great suit if you’re new to surfing and want to spend as little as possible on getting into the water. Quality is reasonable, however mine has already developed a thin spot in the left armpit, which allows water to rush in when I’m pushing through the waves before paddling out. I’ve been using this roughly twice a weekend for seven months, and I’m already patching it. Maybe I caught it with a fingernail while putting it on and that caused the thin spot, or maybe I left it hanging in the sun to dry too often, but the fact remains; after seven months I’m already starting to consider a replacement.

Warm and Snug.

Very Warm. Keeps water out almost totally. Got to work to get into it but fits great and it’s warm. I wakeboarded in Cold spring melt run off in a river and was fine. Large Tall fit me 6’1″ 180lbs.

Very comfortable, silky smooth feel on the inside. More comfortable then my 3/2. Super flexible = easy paddling. Very warm for a 4/3. Ya the top load is a pain to remove, they all are. Well worth it!!

Perfect fit, per the sizing chart O’Neill puts out. Chest-zip design is much better than the old back-zip. No 2 foot zipper tab to flop around and get in the way, and a much better feeling fit. Took it out in 49 degree water for a test run, and other than a little chill on the shins above the wetsuit boots, it performed flawlessly.

So flexible and warm, using it right now in SF and Half Moon Bay… I also own the O’neil Mutant and this one feels a lot better.
